This week, we're spending some time with a couple vegetable-based dishes for some quick and healthy eating that doesn't sacrifice flavor. We begin with a super quick way to make Brussels sprouts that's also actually my favorite way to make them. I love it when the quick & easy option is also, in my opinion, the tastiest one. Who is going to argue with a downright delicious side dish (or snack - because I will just nibble on these if left to my own devices!) that can be on the table in less than 15 minutes?
If you wanted to use a different oil and/or seasoning, go for it. Toasted sesame oil with a spicier seasoning would be delicious and make for a fun appetizer before enjoying ramen, stir fry, or the like. If you have large Brussels sprouts, try slicing them in halves or quarters, leaving the stem intact so they do not fall apart in the air fryer. I prefer relatively small ones that are about the size of small grapes or cherry tomatoes.
These are stunning alongside roasted chicken or seared steaks. I also think they make excellent additions to bowl-based meals or snack spreads. I even think they could go over for upcoming events like Oscars parties or March Madness gatherings. Yes, they are that good. And yes, I definitely think you should try them and enjoy!
Air Fried Brussels Sprouts
- 1 lb. Brussels sprouts of similar size - I used ones the size of small grapes
- 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 2 teaspoons herb & garlic seasoning - I used Kinder's Buttery Garlic & Herb seasoning
Using a paring knife, remove any dark spots or hard stem pieces from the sprouts. In a large bowl, toss the sprouts with the oil and seasoning. Choose seasonings and oil to suit your tastes and dietary needs.
Set your air fryer to air fry for 10 minutes at 400°F and add the sprouts to the basket. Give the basket a good shake to toss the sprouts about halfway through the cooking time.
When the cooking cycle ends, remove the sprouts to a serving bowl and enjoy alongside your favorite main courses or have them as a tasty snack with a honey mustard or spicy dipping sauce.
