"Forget love... I'd rather fall in chocolate!"

    - Unknown

Welcome to the February issue of Seasoned Cooking. In a short month in the middle of winter, a holiday like Valentine’s Day is a pleasant distraction. It also, more often than not, is a tasty one as well! From the tasty chocolates to be nibbled with delight to elegant meals to be shared with loved ones, it’s a holiday devoted to love … between people and of food.

We begin our tour of this month’s issue with a look at the articles we have devoted to chocolate. We begin with a column for those of you who wake up with a hankering for chocolate. The Rise ‘n Shine column has chocolate pancakes for a romantic breakfast in bed. But the chocolate doesn’t stop there. A special feature article for all those chocoholics out there offers a selection of recipes ranging from a simple fudge recipe to an unusual and delightful chocolate martini! And if that’s not enough, make sure you stop by the Happy Endings column for a neat recipe for chocolate pizzelles – lacey Italian cookies that are pure bliss.

Of course, we can’t live on chocolate alone … or can we? For those looking for more than that, we’re dishing up elegant meals and creative dishes. Stop by Phil’s International Flair for a great recipe featuring oysters and champagne … what could be more romantic than that? How about a recipe straight from one of the finest restaurants in Ontario? Visit the Through the Kitchen Window column for a special occasion recipe that Rossana got from Il Corso, a great Canadian restaurant. If you can’t manage to make it there for Valentine’s Day, you can bring the spirit of the place to your home. And, if you’re lucky, you will have help in the kitchen. This month’s Kitchen Focus is on cooking as a couple. Get hints and recipes that will have you both happy. Finally, the Ingredient SpotLight gets its inspiration this month from red wine. In addition to enjoying it as a beverage, two great recipes take advantage of its strong flavor to make a memorable meal.

There's a lot more to enjoy in this month's issue of Seasoned Cooking -- from your guide to avoiding winter health problems to a fusion menu featuring the flavors of India and Morocco. Enjoy and here's to a seasoned lifestyle.
