"Making the decision to have a child-it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body."

    -Elizabeth Stone

Welcome to the May issue of Seasoned Cooking. May is a lovely month. The weather gives us the best of spring with a hint of the summer ahead ... and that means grilling. Get a start on the season with Phil's International Flair and a special lamb kebob recipe that will get you ready for a summer of quality time with your grill.

Of course, May is also a month to celebrate motherhood. A traditional favorite is the Mother's Day brunch. Get ideas about a special menu in this month's feature and, of course a wide selection of recipes. You'll also want to drop by Seasoned Opinions to share your Mother's Day traditions and learn about new ones.

Being a month that lends itself to being on the go, May also seems the perfect month to focus on low-effort meals and treats that can be enjoyed as your explore what the month has to offer. So, we begin with the Kitchen Focus column and a look at crockpots (or slow cookers) and how to use yours to put dinner on the table without missing a beat. You'll also want to look at the Happy Endings and Through the Kitchen Window columns to get a mobile fix for your sweet tooth. In Happy Endings, you get a primer on cupcakes and a selection of favorites that are sure to please. In Through the Kitchen Window, you'll be taking a bite out of a collection of cookie recipes that are simply divine. They're great ways to end a meal.

And that brings us to beginning the day. As usual, the Rise 'n Shine column brings the best of the season to your morning meal. This month, fresh fruit crepes are on the menu and sure to please. And, in Victoria's Vegetarian Victuals, eggs are being presented in everything from the traditional to the unique. Stop by for the best of breakfast and more!

And that's just a hint of what we're bringing you in this month's issue. Enjoy and here's to a seasoned lifestyle. And, to all of the mothers out there, have a very Happy Mother's Day!
