"Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we diet."

Welcome to the January issue of Seasoned Cooking. And, oh how true these words of wisdom from our anonymous friend are! With the New Year promising to bring some added pounds to many of us, resolutions involving diets and exercise are also upon us. And, we're doing our part here at Seasoned Cooking to encourage healthy lifestyle changes as well.
We begin our lifestyle improvement journey with a look at New Year's resolutions and how they can be both helpful and dangerous, depending on how you approach them. Get some general advice about how to make and stick to your resolutions and see what others are resolving for 2001.
A lot of people resolve to change their eating habits for the better. This is an admirable move and we're doing our part to encourage you all by including articles like the Rush Hour column (featuring a simple and healthy confetti chicken salad) and Phil's International Flair (presenting a special homemade chunky salsa recipe).
Another way to help improve the meals you put on your table is to include fresh herbs whenever possible. Now, many of you might wonder how to tackle that challenge with what seems like tons of that white stuff covering everything in sight. Meet Herb offers the solution with the first in a series of articles on growing herbs indoors. Who said you can't enjoy nature's bounty all year round?
Finally, if you are one of those folks that rely on energy bars and the like to fill in the gaps in your healthy lifestyle, you might want to read the Health & Fitness column before you stock up on them again. With many of the breakfast, diet and energy bars on the market packing as much fat and calories as candy bars, you might want to reconsider getting your fuel from real food!
That's just a sampling of what we've got to offer this month at Seasoned Cooking. Make sure you check it all out -- from the special feature on Italian desserts to Victoria's Vegetarian Victuals featuring ten great casseroles. It's all there to help you achieve the lifestyle you desire. Happy New Year and here's to a seasoned lifestyle.
