Welcome to the August issue of Seasoned Cooking. August brings with it the last of the lazy days of summer. Therefore, take advantage of them by enjoying the outdoors! We have several articles on taking advantage of the outdoors. Check out the Readers' Corner for a outdoor cooking extravaganza or Victoria's Vegetarian Victuals for some easy outdoor delights. Home Style focuses on bringing the indoors outside this month -- find out how to dress up your patio or deck.

We are once again introducing a new column this month. Momma Gert's Place features recipes with a traditional southern flair. If you are aching for the comfort food that was served after church on Sunday, check out this month's article and the soul food connection. Welcome aboard, Royce!

For those of you who wonder what the difference between butter and margarine is, check out this month's Health & Fitness column. Get the low-down on the differences and how to maintain the healthiest diet. If you thought that margarine was your healthy alternative, you might be surprised by the truth.

We've got a few great feature articles to share this month too. If you are starting to furnish that first kitchen, be sure to check out the kitchen necessities covered in Seasoned Cooking's guide to completing your kitchen. If you're just starting or returning to college and don't even have a kitchen, check out our simple guide to cooking at college. Finally, because you're reading this ezine, I know you'd love exploring the Internet food resources we've found for you. Of course, we've got all of your favorite columns here this month too. Phil's International Flair presents some seafood dishes, so get out your rod and reel, your herbs and spices, and your pots and pans! Like pizza? Try a truly unique option in this month's Rush Hour. Learn the art of stretching an egg in Rise 'n Shine and the art of stretching space in Krafty's Kwickies. If you think collecting requires lots of money, make sure you read Packed Pockets to find out why that's a myth. Also, if you're a sauce fan, Cooking Ahead sends some advanced sauce secrets your way this month.

To make our Recipe Index a little less difficult to use, we've split it into a few more categories. Now you can browse for breakfasts, meat, meatless, poultry, seafood, vegetables, snacks and breads, and desserts. We hope this helps. Enjoy this month's issue and keep your comments coming. Dig in!
